Brick repairs that blend in, not stand out

A bad brick repair is easy to spot from across the road: the wrong colour brick, grey cement mortar on a soft lime wall, or a patch that has cracked again within a year. We do it the other way. We find out why the brickwork has failed, fix the cause, and match the brick and mortar so the repair sits naturally with the rest of the wall.

RS Kayley Ltd has been repairing brickwork across Bexleyheath and the surrounding areas for over 18 years. Many homes around here are 1930s semis and Victorian or Edwardian terraces built in soft stock brick, and they need a different approach to a modern new build. We know the difference.

Common brickwork repairs we carry out

  • Spalled or blown bricks, where frost has pushed the face off the brick
  • Cracked brickwork including step cracks around windows and doors
  • Leaning or loose garden walls and piers that need taking down and rebuilding
  • Damaged corners and reveals from vehicle impact or wear
  • Failed lintels and brick arches over windows and doors
  • Chimney stack brickwork that is loose, cracked or crumbling

Is the crack something to worry about?

Fine hairline cracks are often just shrinkage and can be repointed. Wider cracks, cracks that run through the bricks themselves, or cracks that are getting bigger can point to movement, failed lintels or roots and drains under the wall. We will tell you honestly what we see. If something needs a structural engineer, we will say so before any work starts.

Insurance claims

If the damage came from a vehicle, a falling tree, a storm or a leak, it may be covered by your home insurance. We regularly carry out insurance brickwork repairs and can provide photos and a written quote for your claim.

For ongoing care such as repointing, see our brickwork maintenance page. To book a free visit, call 01322 515657 or send us a few photos using the form below.

Questions

Brickwork Repairs: your questions answered

Cannot see your question? Call 01322 515657 or send us a message.

Can you match the colour of my old bricks?

Yes, in most cases. We match on colour, texture and size, including older imperial sized bricks. Where an exact new brick is not available we can often source reclaimed brick, or reuse sound bricks from the wall.

Do you match the mortar as well?

Yes. Older homes are usually built in a softer lime based mortar, and using hard cement on them can damage the brick. We match the mortar type and colour to the original.

Can I send photos for a quote?

Yes. Photos are a great place to start and let us give you a rough idea of what is involved. For most repairs we then visit to confirm the cause and give you a fixed written quote.

How quickly can you repair a damaged wall?

If a wall or pier is unsafe after an impact or storm we will prioritise making it safe. Planned repairs are booked in with a start date given when you accept the quote.
