Driveways built for the weight of a car, not just to look good on day one
A driveway carries a lot of weight every single day. If the base is too shallow or not compacted properly, the paving starts to dip where the tyres sit, edges move and weeds push through. We dig out properly, build a deep and well compacted sub base, fit solid edge restraints and lay quality block paving on top. The result is a drive that stays flat and tidy.
We recently completed a new block paved driveway in Bexleyheath using Marshalls charcoal block paving with a natural colour border, and we are happy to show you examples of our work when we visit.
What is included
- Removal of the old surface, turf or soil, and all waste taken away
- A compacted sub base built to the right depth for vehicles
- Edge restraints and contrasting borders
- Block paving laid in your chosen colour and pattern
- Drainage designed to meet the rules for front gardens
- Front walls, piers and steps built to match if needed
Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?
If you are paving more than 5 square metres of a front garden, the surface either needs to be permeable or water needs to run off into a lawn, border or soakaway on your property. Done this way, planning permission is not normally needed. If you need a new or wider dropped kerb, you will need permission from your local council, such as Bexley Council or Dartford Borough Council, before the drive can be used. We will talk you through this at the quote.
Finish the front of the house
As bricklayers we can also build new front walls and piers to frame the driveway, so the whole frontage is done by one team. Planning the back garden too? See our patios.
